Spring Arrives in April, All Things Turn to the SunOn April 1, the highly anticipated 2026 Smart Power Plant Forum grandly opened in Beijing. Under the guidance of North China Electric Power University, hosted by the Technology Transfer and Transformation Center of North China Electric Power University, and co-organized by Luculent, this flagship industry event brought together elites from government, industry, universities, research institutes and users. Participants conducted in-depth discussions on macro policies, cutting-edge technologies and scenario applications, drawing a brand-new blueprint for the digital and intelligent transformation of the power industry.
During the forum, the 2025 Smart Power Plant Industry Insight White Paper was officially released. A number of Luculent’s innovative practices were selected into the Smart Power Plant Construction Industry Map, and its full-stack industrial AI capabilities were highly recognized by all sectors of the industry.
At the main forum themed New Paradigm of Smart Energy: AI-Driven and Digital Practices, a discipline leader from Luculent delivered a keynote speech entitled Intelligent Integration of Cloud and Edge · Creating the Future with Data – Industrial AI Empowering the Intelligent Transformation of Power Station Clusters. With technological innovations and practical achievements, he decoded the core logic of the digital and intelligent transformation in the power generation industry.
Awakening Sleeping DataSolving Pain Points in Transformation
Under the traditional information model, power plant data mostly serves as passive records driven by processes and controlled by systems. Massive time-series data and multi-modal information are left idle, failing to deliver practical value and instead becoming a "digital burden" difficult to activate.
How to make data "come alive, be applied and take effect" and truly transform into core assets driving corporate development?
Luculent’s answer is: taking industrial AI as the core engine, deeply integrating industrial mechanisms, expert experience and AI algorithms to build a full-link intelligent technology system.
On one hand, through intelligent cleaning of time-series data and multi-modal data fusion technologies, it breaks down data silos in all links and realizes standardized and structured activation of data. On the other hand, relying on mechanism-data fusion models and in-depth data mining, it converts data assets into actionable decision-making bases, driving the power industry to transform from a "process-driven" model to a digital and intelligent model featuring "data-driven and intelligent decision-making".
Cloud-Edge CollaborationFrom Single-Plant Intelligence to Cluster-Wise Wisdom
The power generation industry is currently facing the common dilemma of "independent construction at single plants, data islands and difficult group-level management". Each power plant builds AI applications independently, leading to fragmented scenarios and prominent "siloed" development. At the group level, management is trapped by problems such as poor visibility, ineffective control, difficult promotion and unclear accounting.
To address this industry-wide challenge, Luculent, based on the management and control needs of energy groups, has developed a new-generation industrial intelligent hub – a smart cluster production management and control platform based on cloud-edge collaboration.
With "cloud-edge collaboration" as its framework, the platform connects the three-level management and control chain of "group – region – station". Centered on three core components – the Industrial Brain, Digital Twin and Intelligent Controller, it forms a complete technical system for coordinated "cloud-edge-end" operations:
The cloud-based Industrial Brain, serving as the global decision-making center, integrates five major factories covering knowledge, cases, algorithms, data and models, coordinating global resource allocation, strategic decision-making and standard implementation across the group.
The edge-based Digital Twin maps the physical status of stations in real time, building a virtual-real integrated management foundation to realize digital simulation, monitoring and early warning, performance optimization and fault diagnosis of equipment.
The terminal Intelligent Controller is responsible for on-site perception and command execution with millisecond-level response.
The closed-loop collaboration of the three breaks information barriers between stations and groups, achieving "bottom-up data aggregation, top-down application distribution, step-by-step accumulation and reuse of cases, and full-link management penetration".
With this platform, groups can realize full-link early warning and management. Through ranking comparison and deviation analysis, stations are pushed to optimize operations, and equipment maintenance is upgraded from "emergency repair" to "predictive maintenance". This fundamentally shifts management from "simple supervision" to "in-depth empowerment", comprehensively improving the reliability, economy and stability of power station cluster operations.
Five-Dimensional SystemJointly Building a Benchmark for New Power Systems
With 27 years of deep cultivation in industrial digitalization and intelligence, Luculent has successfully built a five-dimensional empowerment system covering model empowerment, data empowerment, training empowerment, diagnosis empowerment and case empowerment. It can quickly adapt to the full-scenario and full-business personalized management needs of energy enterprises, providing all-round support for their digital and intelligent transformation.
"What factories need is not AI that writes poems and paints, but 'senior experts' that understand industrial language, grasp business logic and solve practical problems."
The company’s expert pointed to the core of industrial AI application: only by deeply integrating into production scenarios can AI evolve from "cutting-edge technology" into a practical tool for engineers.
Focusing on five high-value scenarios – production operation, intelligent equipment maintenance, safety production, energy efficiency optimization and operation management, Luculent promotes the deep integration of intelligent systems with energy production, helping enterprises operate in a more economical, safer, greener and more efficient manner.
According to experts, relying on the smart cluster production management and control platform, groups can mobilize business experts across the board to conduct centralized consultations and collaborative research on production problems at various power plants, realizing "one plant encounters a problem, the whole group conducts checks". Mature solutions are accumulated as typical cases, continuously building an integrated "Four Treasuries" system including case library, fault library, strategy library and model library.
By digitizing experience and modeling knowledge, core expertise is preserved and inherited, fostering a virtuous cycle of "group-level overall empowerment, on-site implementation at stations, global reuse of experience, and continuous iteration of capabilities".
At present, many large energy groups have regularly held internal AI modeling competitions based on this platform, cultivating an innovative ecosystem of "everyone uses AI, everyone creates value" through "drip irrigation" digital and intelligent culture.
Luculent has constructed a number of highly integrated, replicable and easy-to-promote benchmark smart power plant projects across various power generation types, including coal-fired thermal power, gas-fired power, hydropower and new energy.
In a large thermal power energy group, the cloud-edge collaboration platform has connected 12 power plants and 37 generating units, with an early warning accuracy rate exceeding 98.5%, effectively reducing coal consumption and bringing remarkable economic benefits.
In a cascade hydropower station cluster intelligent management project covering a whole river basin, Luculent developed AI-based long-, medium- and short-term hydrological forecasting models and joint optimal dispatching models for cascade stations, creating a new model of "centralized control center + unattended operation with minimal on-duty personnel" for the entire basin.
On April 3, attendees will also visit the digital platform for thermal power safety production management and control constructed by Luculent for State Power Investment Corporation, experiencing the robust achievements of industrial AI in empowering cluster management and control.
Driven by the dual goals of "carbon peaking and carbon neutrality" and the construction of new power systems, the digital and intelligent transformation of the power industry has entered a deep-water zone. Luculent will continue to deepen its focus on industrial AI, gather strengths from all parties, and jointly paint a new blueprint for the development of smart energy.
