From January 21st to 23rd, guided by the Chinese Society for Metals and co-organized by the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Steel Industry Energy Conservation and Emission Reduction Industry Technology Innovation Alliance, with Luculent Smart as a co-organizer, the "2026 Fifth Green and Low-Carbon Technology Exchange Conference for the Steel Industry and Special Training on Carbon Market Construction" was successfully held in Nanjing. The conference focused on AI empowerment, low-carbon technologies, and carbon market construction. Over a hundred representatives from steel enterprises and industry experts gathered to explore pathways for energy conservation and carbon reduction, conduct on-site inspections of benchmark practices, and promote green and high-quality development in the industry.

Liu Yusong, Secretary-General of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Steel Industry Energy Conservation and Emission Reduction Industry Technology Innovation Alliance, emphasized in his opening speech that 2026 marks the first year for the steel industry to participate in carbon trading. Whole-process, systematic energy-saving and carbon reduction transformations will become the core of enterprise development. The alliance will continue to serve as a bridge and bond, helping enterprises seize policy opportunities, promote technology implementation, and cultivate specialized talent.

Wei Xiaoqing, General Manager of Luculent Smart, stated in his opening remarks that as the steel industry is integrated into the national carbon market, energy conservation and carbon reduction have become key to shaping enterprises' green competitiveness. The company continues to explore areas such as AI-driven equipment energy efficiency, integrated energy and carbon management, and intelligent upgrades for captive power plants. He expressed the company's willingness to collaborate with industry peers to build a low-carbon, green, resilient, and win-win industrial ecosystem.

Chen Da, Secretary and Co-Chairman of the Jiangsu Steel Service Industry Association, highlighted in his speech that Jiangsu's steel industry, leveraging the advantages of Yangtze River Delta integration, has nurtured a group of outstanding enterprises and digital intelligence service providers, accumulating valuable experience in low-carbon technologies, green supply chains, and circular economy. The association will build platforms and promote collaboration to support the steel industry's advancement toward high-end, green, and intelligent development.

During the exchange session, Xu Mian, General Manager of Luculent Smart's Ecosystem Cooperation Headquarters, delivered a keynote speech titled "Energy and Carbon Management and Energy Conservation & Carbon Reduction Application Practices Based on the Industrial Internet Platform."

With the full implementation of the EU Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) and the continuous expansion of the national carbon market, the steel industry stands at a critical juncture for low-carbon transformation. Enterprises urgently need to establish an internal and external collaborative carbon emission management system: internally promoting whole-process decarbonization and green electricity substitution to enhance carbon risk response capabilities, and externally accelerating the construction of green supply chains while actively addressing trade barriers such as carbon tariffs through carbon footprint traceability and international certification.
To address these goals, Luculent Smart has developed a carbon asset management system covering the entire cycle of "monitoring, accounting, management, trading, and compliance," forming a measurable, manageable, reducible, and tradable carbon management closed loop to help enterprises understand their carbon footprint, manage carbon assets effectively, and create carbon revenue.
The system establishes a solid data foundation through "comprehensive collection," combining automatic acquisition and manual input to cover the entire chain of data from raw materials to products, building a real-time and credible carbon data base. It ensures accuracy and reliability through "intelligent accounting," incorporating calculation models compliant with domestic and international standards for automatic and precise carbon emission accounting at both process and enterprise levels. It achieves asset visibility through "business coverage," managing the full lifecycle of assets such as quotas and CCERs, and predicting future carbon emissions and quota surpluses or shortages based on historical data. It drives value realization through "assisted trading," providing integrated support from carbon price prediction and trading strategies to compliance optimization, helping enterprises shift from "passive compliance" to "active management."
Furthermore, Xu Mian highlighted the company's innovative practices in energy conservation and carbon reduction—the Luculent Sunchang Intelligent AI Energy Efficiency Optimization Control System. Based on AI algorithm models predicting control parameters, the system dynamically adjusts fan operations through safe and reliable control strategies while integrating visual recognition and dust monitoring to ensure dust removal effectiveness, achieving a closed loop of energy efficiency from wide-condition identification and real-time optimization to automatic control. Currently deployed in several leading steel enterprises, it has achieved an energy-saving rate of 8%–15%, with a single fan saving approximately 300,000 yuan in electricity costs annually. It has also been selected for the 2025 MIIT Intelligent Manufacturing "Unveiling the List and Appointing the Commander" project.
The company's smart power plant expert shared a thematic report titled "Intelligent Empowerment for Management Enhancement of Power Plant Stations in the Steel Industry" at the conference.

Against the backdrop of green and intelligent transformation in the steel industry, power plant stations, as the "energy heart" of enterprises, are crucial for intelligent upgrades. Technology cannot be discussed in isolation from management; progress must be made layer by layer around systems, processes, and data, transitioning from "rule by people" and "rule by paper" to "rule by data" and "rule by intelligence," making data and algorithms the core of decision-making.
To this end, Luculent Smart proposes empowering power plant stations with comprehensive upgrades through AI+ five core business scenarios.
In AI+ operations, an intelligent monitoring system is built to achieve unit anomaly warnings and precise diagnostics, automatically linking to an expert knowledge base to push real-time solutions to operators, ensuring safe and economical operations. In AI+ equipment, a full-lifecycle fault warning system is established to identify potential failures in main and auxiliary equipment in advance, combining 3D visualization and diagnostic case libraries to guide maintenance strategies and promote predictive maintenance, reducing operational costs. In AI+ safety, access control, personnel positioning, and video intelligent recognition are integrated to detect risks such as failure to wear safety helmets or unauthorized area intrusion in real time. Simultaneously, work permits are linked with electronic fences and risk databases to enable safety measure verification and intelligent control of violations throughout the entire operation process.
Additionally, the solution covers AI+ management and AI+ knowledge. Through real-time cost calculation models, it helps enterprises achieve transparency in electricity generation costs, supporting bidding decisions. Leveraging large model technology, it revitalizes the massive knowledge assets accumulated by enterprises, such as documents and procedures, transforming them into interactive, queryable "intelligent assistants" to aid employee decision-making and operations.
Concurrently, the first seminar for the group standard "Technical Specification for Intelligent Energy Efficiency Optimization of Dust Removal Fans in the Steel Industry," applied for by the Extreme Energy Efficiency Standardization Working Group of the China Iron and Steel Association, was held.

As the lead drafting unit of this standard, Luculent Smart collaborated with expert representatives from the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Steel Industry Energy Conservation and Emission Reduction Industry Technology Innovation Alliance, the School of Energy and Environmental Engineering at University of Science and Technology Beijing, the Jiangsu Institute of Metrology, Maanshan Iron and Steel, Tangshan Songting Iron and Steel, and other organizations. The discussions aimed to transform innovative achievements such as the "General Technology for Energy Saving of Single Dust Removal Fans Based on AI+ Industrial Internet Platforms" into replicable and promotable industry standards, leading the green transformation of the steel industry.
We welcome partners from the steel industry and relevant organizationsto join the drafting work!
