New Energy Operation Calls for “New Intelligent Solutions”

With the rapid development of the new energy industry, operation personnel have been dealing with endless stations, heavy monitoring tasks and massive data analysis on a daily basis.

The future of new energy operation will follow three major trends: centralized operation and dispatch, regional maintenance collaboration, and intelligent station construction. The key lies in the deep integration of industrial AI technologies such as large and small models, AI vision, cloud-edge collaboration and intelligent control with new energy businesses.

According to experts from Luculent, based on profound industrial scenario experience, the company has innovatively developed a full-stack new energy cloud-edge-end collaborative management platform. Adopting a multi-level “group-region-station” architecture, it covers full business scenarios including intelligent construction, centralized monitoring, intelligent maintenance, energy efficiency analysis, visual inspection, safe production and intelligent dispatch. It provides full-cycle digital support for power generation enterprises from planning to operation, helping improve the quality of existing new energy assets and optimize incremental development.

01 How to Coordinate Dispersed Power Stations as a Unified Whole?

AI + Production Dispatch: Equipping Groups with a “Super Brain”

At centralized control centers, operators are often confronted with massive data and complex interfaces. In response, Luculent has built an intelligent monitoring system vertically integrated at corporate, regional and station levels, acting as an “intelligent brain” to conduct panoramic monitoring and intelligent analysis of the operation status of all stations.

“Traditional manual monitoring is prone to fatigue and omissions. Our system provides early warnings for common equipment failures, such as accurately identifying abnormal blade angles and zero-branch PV issues, shifting from passive alarm reception to proactive problem detection and from manual response to intelligent closed-loop management,” experts explained. Based on electrical single-line diagrams, the system enables unified monitoring of electrical equipment across all stations, quickly locating abnormal switch statuses and fault points.

In addition, the platform introduces an AI-interactive “virtual dispatcher” that can not only quickly identify anomalies and analyze data, but also automatically complete alarm announcements, work order generation, report submission and even telephone notifications. As new energy fully participates in the electricity market, it will also automatically implement power regulation, energy storage charging/discharging and other strategies via AI algorithms to respond to grid dispatch requirements, laying a solid foundation for future “unmanned intelligent custody”.

02 How to Predict the Health of Thousands of Devices?

AI + Intelligent Maintenance: Equipping Wind Turbines and PV Systems with 24/7 Health Experts

Unplanned outages caused by sudden equipment failures are a major cause of power generation losses. Through “AI + intelligent maintenance”, Luculent has established a full-process closed-loop system covering early warning, diagnosis, analysis and disposal.

“We conduct all-weather health checks for equipment using big data and AI models,” experts noted. The platform has developed more than 50 standard early warning models for 7 key components of wind turbines and over 20 models for 3 major categories of PV equipment, enabling early detection of equipment degradation. The intelligent warning and diagnosis agent automatically infers potential root causes, pinpoints specific components and generates maintenance recommendations, greatly improving defect elimination efficiency.

Furthermore, the system integrates drone inspections and AI vision with video surveillance to verify fault conditions; uses large models to assist in the review of “two tickets” and automatically verify the completeness of safety measures; and optimizes the allocation of manpower, vehicles, ships and other maintenance resources through intelligent scheduling algorithms, realizing standardized and efficient operation and maintenance management.

03 How to Unlock the Full Power Generation Potential of New Energy?

AI + Energy Efficiency Assessment: Building a Multi-Dimensional Microscope for Power Generation Benefits

In a fiercely competitive market, power generation efficiency is the lifeline. Through “AI + energy efficiency assessment”, Luculent helps new energy stations identify gaps, address shortcomings and boost performance.

The platform conducts refined quantitative analysis of power loss, classifying it into equipment failure, wind and PV curtailment, grid power restriction, planned maintenance and other types, allowing managers to accurately locate benefit loss points. For example, PV inverter dispersion rate analysis can quickly identify “sub-health” conditions such as abnormal string wiring and incorrect capacity configuration. Availability analysis combined with weather data reveals periodic production patterns of wind power.

“We not only tell customers how much electricity they generate, but also analyze where and why power is lost,” experts stated. Through long-term performance benchmarking, the platform clearly compares the power generation performance of equipment from different manufacturers and models, providing solid data support for equipment selection, technical renovation and maintenance priority decisions, thus systematically improving the overall power generation benefits of stations.

04 How to Respond to Field Risks in Seconds?

AI + Intelligent Inspection: Building a Three-Dimensional Safety Defense Line for Stations

Field stations are located in complex environments, and traditional manual inspection faces problems such as high safety risks, limited coverage and low efficiency. Luculent deeply applies AI vision technology to wind power, photovoltaic, energy storage and other new energy scenarios, creating an all-weather, three-dimensional risk prevention and control system.

“A wildfire in a PV area may only have a three-to-five-minute golden rescue window. Our AI vision system supports dome camera patrols, automatically identifies smoke and flames with an accuracy rate exceeding 95%, and realizes minute-level alarms,” experts introduced. For wind turbines, drone and AI image recognition can automatically detect blade cracks, loose bolts, nacelle leakage and other issues, with efficiency nearly 10 times higher than manual tower climbing. For energy storage stations with high safety requirements, the integration of AI vision and sensor data can keenly capture battery compartment deformation, abnormal temperature rise and early smoke, providing double protection for thermal runaway early warning and realizing proactive accident prevention.

05 How to Maximize Revenue as New Energy Enters the Market?

AI + Electricity Trading: Capturing Every Bit of Value in the Market

As new energy fully enters the electricity market, the complexity of trading decisions has increased sharply. Luculent extends AI capabilities to the full cycle of electricity trading, helping new energy enterprises become more proactive “value creators”.

The platform provides break-even references for medium and long-term transactions based on cost and profit targets. In the day-ahead spot market, it dynamically optimizes bidding strategies based on accurate short-term power and price forecasts to maximize revenue. Driven by the dual wheels of “technology + market”, the platform helps new energy stations improve overall market returns while ensuring grid security.

Building a Continuously Empowering New Energy Intelligent Operation Ecosystem

Through Cloud-Edge Collaboration

“A successful system must withstand the test of large-scale and complex scenarios and possess the ability for continuous evolution.”

The core advantage of the platform lies in its robust “cloud-edge collaboration” architecture. Complex AI model training, big data analysis and knowledge accumulation are deployed on the “cloud side” (group/regional centers), while lightweight model inference and real-time response are implemented on the “edge side” (station side). When regional companies encounter difficult problems, cloud-based expert teams can remotely intervene for collaborative analysis and diagnosis, and the formed solutions can be stored as new case knowledge to empower other stations.

“This architecture forms a virtuous cycle: data drives model optimization, models empower business applications, and applications feed back to improve models,” experts added. “Through a low-code platform, we can also co-create models with owners and equipment manufacturers, rapidly transforming industry knowledge into digital capabilities and truly lowering the threshold for intelligent transformation.”

During the forum, experts shared a case of a new energy intelligent production management and control system built for an extra-large power generation group. The platform established a management cockpit featuring “perceptibility, visibility, controllability and traceability”, realizing unified intelligent management of 188 wind farms in 29 regions across China, with more than 12,000 wind turbines of 88 models from 21 manufacturers. It has effectively implemented the management goals of “centralized monitoring, regional O&M, and intelligent stations”.
